ART FOR MOSAICS

h

i had box after box filled with postcards & photographs, newspaper clippings & prints
and one mosaic border that i wasn’t too fond of, in the beautiful little guest toilet
here in the new, old flat. and that’s why art for mosaics came to be.
20 minutes and a roll of washi tape at hand.
come in - it is big enough to crowd two people, at least..

round and round, roughly wherever the border was,
i simply taped up images. my own work, postcards from around the world
and beautiful newspaper clippings that i’ve saved.
we have an amazing ceiling height with stucco throughout
and all the windows are those lovely ones i keep hassling you about,
just because i'm childishly fond of that they pull up, like in the movies.
the sinks, the closets & the faucets are old and beautiful,
but we only rent this place so far and that makes for having to find
temporary solutions, that make it all more one’s own.
even the old hook i didn’t like the tip of, i covered, with the master,
- roversi’s beautiful photography, - to follow the line around the room
but still be able to use for those necklaces that come on and off the most.
finally the koushi lamp shade went up, with some wobbly climbing
and now i’m in there, in the guest bathroom, more than i really need to.

it’s not rocket science, this make over.
but art can be many things. and that’s beautiful to me.

with love,

h

  2. A wonderful solution. I done something similar in my dorm room at university, I used National Geographic postcards to add colour and interest to the prison like grey walls.

    1. yes, isn’t it, - & exactly; you really c a n
arrange everything that comes your way,
as much as you can at least, - & spread
some color, light or loveliness around,
even prison like rooms. they need it all
      the more.. :)

      thank you for stopping by..!

    1. jaaa..!!

  4. You weave that magic darling!
I remember doing a similar thing
    in our U.K. bathroom
    - the place had wonderful bones,
    but as a rental
there was nothing we could do
    about tiles and carpets...
I remember covering the floral bathroom tiles
    with favourite quotes and poems.
    Our current home, our own,
    on the other hand,
is still full of things that we haven't got round to doing
despite being at freedom to do whatever we want.
Somehow over time you kind of get used to seeing
    the not so nice bits,
    not a good thing :)
But once you get motivated to work on something,
it kind of gets the ball rolling further afield.
    Hopefully after the summer :)

    1. that’s so sweet to hear, my lovely,
that you did the same thing ! :)
      exactly that.. lovely bones.
but aaah, the carpets, the carpets
are what kills me.. i promise you my
fingers actually i t c h to save the floors
      underneath.. *smiles* (especially after
some detective snooping in the entrance’s
little cupboard.. where i found what floors
      are, as expected, underneath here..
worn. old. wide. wooden planks. with. large.
seams. *sigh* that i can’t even accept. *smiles*
i mean.. everything we put in here furniture-wise
would look so amazing, if only...

we’re looking to buy though, and i tell you,
i can’t WAIT ’til the day i get to sink my teeth
into a flat like the ones around here..

yes, let’s dream, - until your autumn and
my hopefully not to far into the future..

      :)

oh yeah, that was actually slumped there,
since i used it, and i thought it added some color
to the otherwise monochrome shot, so left it
      hangin’.. *smiles*

wishing you a lovely end to your week..!

  7. I so much love your style....and it´s always a pleasure to have a look into your home...
it´s a big Inspiration for me and makes me want to do creative things.
(again a big thank you, you Sweetheart!!!!)
by the way, I did something similar in my old house several times...
in my entry, in the kitchen, wherever I feel the Need for a Little change -
but not a big, more a small Change.
so now I am thinking about to print some of my Pictures
and decorate the walls...I mean - why not?!
    :)
Have a very happy Weekend, Honey!
    How is the weather?
We have a heat wave in my side of the world
and I think I should send you a large bundle sunrays!
